He has already touched heart of millions with his stunning performance in mega serial, Saaat Pake Bandha and has already made his debut in Mainak Bhaumik directed multi starrer film Bedroom. His second film and first as the lead actor Elar Char Adhyay is abput to release on 11th of next month. Prior to this release our reporter BengaliMovies talked exclusively with this new talented film star Vikram over telephone on various aspects of his life and career. Here is the full conversation.
BengaliMovies: Nomoshkar. First of all wish u a very hearty Suvo Noboborsho from the whole team of Bengalimovies.
Vikram: To you also.
BengaliMovies: How is life going on?
Vikram: Life is absolutely ok with little bit of busyness. As you know Elar char adhyays’ dubbing has been completed and the film is all set to release on 11 of next month.
BengaliMovies: After creating sensation in small screen now you are all set to rock in big screen. So how this journey began?
Vikram: Well the journey started one and half years back. Earlier I used to act in two theatre groups in Mumbai, one was named as Kisan Amrit, which is a Hindi theatre group another was an English group. Then I got the offer for Saat Pake Bandha (a Bengali sop opera). While doing Saat pake bandha I got offer for films. Later it turned out to be difficult to carry out both at the same time, so I had to quit the first one.
BengaliMovies: Your debut film Bedroom has already released and three more Elar Char adhyay, Hoi Choi and Saat pake bandha are to come. So with which director you liked to work most?
Vikram: It has been a great experience to work with each with them. Working with Bapaditya da has been a great experience and special too as it was the first film where I am playing the lead role. And the character Atin from Tagore’s last novel is one of the most adorable character of Bengalis and Bappaditya da has given me the opportunity to portray the character. Beside that Bappaditya da is a very good director as well as person.
Apart from Bappaditya da I have worked for Mainak who is also very good and friendly. Working with Mainak was more like gossiping at rock.
With Debarati Gupta? I just loved to work with her. Where Bappaditya da is a little bit of serious person and Mainak is casual, she lies in between them. She is more like an elder sister with lot of affection for us. Though Hoi Choi happens to be her first film but all of us (Rahul, Paoli, Priyanka, Rudra da) enjoyed working with her.
BengaliMovies: Which are the directors you would like to work with?
Vikram: This is just the beginning and there are many directors for whom I would love to work. For e.g. Rituporno Ghosh, Goutam Ghosh, Anjan Dutta and several others.
BengaliMovies: Let’s move from the directors, with which actors you would like to share the screen?
Vikram: I would love to share the screen with many actors like Mithun Chakravarty, Boomba da, Parambrata, Abir, Nil, Saswata da, jeet, Dev and other. I have worked with Rudra da in Bedroom and Hoi choi. And I am again going to share the screen with him in my fifth film also, however right now I can not divulge any information regarding that film as it is in the primitive stage.
BengaliMovies: Among all the names you have taken, whom you admire most?
Vikram: Look I am the youngest among all of them and each of them are very much established in the industry. So it would be very unjust to differentiate between them.
BengaliMovies: You are trying to be diplomatic. Be specific whom you admire most?
Vikram: (Laughs) Well in that case I admire Mithun Chakraborty most. He is my role model. I grew up listening disco dancer. He is renowned figure not only in Tollywood but at national level also. His maiden movie Mrigaya, itself fetched him a national award.
BengaliMovies: Unlike many of them would you like to try your luck in Bollywood?
Vikram: Well it is just the beginning. Let me establish here then I will think about it.
BengaliMovies: That means you are very keen to work in Bollywood?
Vikram: (Chuckles) Hardly there are any actors who don’t dream to work in Bollywood. If I get an opportunity to work there, I will certainly give a shot.
BengaliMovies: OK. Let me ask you a different kind of question. In Tollywood there are two major production houses. Apart from them there are some small production houses and also individual producers. Do you like to work with all of them or do you posses any biasness towards them?
Vikram: (After taking a small pause) Well the thing is that we have just started our career and we want many things to happen but our say is limited. To be true I don’t posses any biasness towards any of them. And the major production houses you are talking about if comes to me I will be happy more than anyone to work for them.
BengaliMovies: Do you want more production houses to come in the field or invest in Tollywood?
Vikram: Yes I would definitely want that. And it is happening. Lots of producers are coming and investing in different types of film. Sensible yet commercial films are being made. Recently I watched Bhooter Bhabishyat, it was an awesome movie. The more producers come the more different types of film will come. The industry will grow, we will get employment.
BengaliMovies: Let us come back to your film. In all of your film you have shared your screen Paoli Dam and in three of them you have been casted opposite to her. So was your experience to work with her?
Vikram: It was very nice. Everybody knows she is a wonderful actress. I am new to the industry compare to her. She has helped me with lots of small tips, even on technical issues. It was just wonderful experience to work with her.
BengaliMovies: How is your bonding with her?
Vikram: Bonding is pretty good. The relation an actor should have with his/her co-star I am having that.
BengaliMovies: Recently a rumour has cropped out that you are dating Paoli, is that true?
Vikram: Yes I heard that, many people asked me about our relationship. But fact is that I myself don’t know that I am having a relationship then come they are knowing about it? I really respect her as an actress. We are friends and will remain.
BengaliMovies: That means you and Paoli don’t have any man and woman kind relationship?
Vikram: No we are not seeing each other. We are just friends.
BengaliMovies: Before wrapping up this conversation, I would like to know to know are you watching IPL?
Vikram: Yes of course.
BengaliMovies: So whom are you supporting? Dadas’ Pune or SRKs’ Kolkata?
Vikram: Obviously Dada. Today he is playing for Pune that is why I am supporting Pune. If tomorrow he plays for Mumbai I will support Mumbai. This support is going on from 1995 and has never been shaken.
BengaliMovies: What about Kolkata?
Vikram: Kolkata comes just next to Pune. I want Pune and Kolkata plays in the final.
BengaliMovies: Well that may not happen also but on 5th of next month there is Pune Vs Kolkata match and that in Eden Gardens. Are you going to check that out?
Vikram: Yes definitely I will pay a visit. Though it is just 6 days before release of Elar Char Adhyay, I will ask Bappaditya da to give me a break for 5 hours. (Laughs)
