Arindam Sil is the latest Bengali actor in the queue of those actors who are aspiring to be director. The actor has already started filming his directorial debut film Aborto. Recently some portions of the film had been shot at Tolly club.
The film Aborto is an amalgamation of contradiction between various relationships, conflict, action and ups and down in lives in today’s world. However the most interesting fact is the characters of the film are the famous characters once filmed by Bengal’s noted director Satyajit Ray in his different films; obviously in a different outlook.
Tota Roy Chowdhury will play the character of Shyamol, a corporate which is originally from the film Seemaboddho. Director cum actor Kaushik Ganguly will play the role of big brother of Tota and the character is inspired from Sakha Prosakha’s Proshsanto. Role of Tota’s wife, Charu (from the film Charulata) will be portrayed by Joya Ahsan.
Apart from Shyamol and charu other Ray’s characters which have made its place are Hari from the film Araneyer Din Ratri; the character of Hari will be played by Abir Chatterjee, here he is a successful IPL player with a very different look. Here his hair is spiked and he wears ear rings and various religious symbols. Another important character from the same film which has found its place in Aborto is Duli. The role of Duli is being played by Reshmi Ghosh; here Reshmi will be the secretary of Tota. Like the character of Siddhartho from the film Pratidwandi here is Ritwick Chakraborty, a politician. Finally without whom the film would look like incomplete, Saswata Chatterjee the Bob Biswas of the industry, will play the role of a corporate here.
Looking from the cast and characters, it can be easily assumed that after a long period Tota will play the centre figure in a film.
Taking inspiration or frame to frame copying is very common in Bengali film industry; however attaching several famous characters of different films in a single string and that too in contemporary world is indeed an unusual move. We wish the film will be admired by all.
