After almost five decades, 60’s most famous cabaret dancer of Kolkata Miss Shefali aka Arati’s real life which was very much sensible will be captured in to celluloid. Director Gulbar Singh has taken this initiative.
Bengal’s most successful and controversial actor of contemporary time Paoli Dam will portray the character of Miss Shefali. Most probably shooting of this not-yet-titled film’s shooting will go on floor from the month of November.
Miss Shefali is not an unknown figure in the industry. Apart from Satyajit Ray’s two films she has worked in several other films. There is also a proverb that once India’s best and successful cabaret dancer Helen once flew to Kolkata to watch her performance. She is also known as legendary figure of Tollywood Uttam Kumar’s special friend and the then producer Binayak Sarkar’s mate. However the smart director to avoid all sorts of controversy has altered all her boyfriend’s names in the film.
But it is still unclear why the director chose Paoli Dam to play this character as she is not that much good dancer. However, we hope Paoli’s this new avatar and Gulbar’s this initiative goes well. What do you think?
